The five "core values" of Joy define many of our activities together:

Worship is at the center of our community’s life together, and as such, there are a variety of musical opportunities at Joy. The Joyful Men’s Chorus is an a capella all male choir, which helps lead the congregation in worship once a month. Other musical opportunities include Sing for Joy (our SATB choir), Joy Youth Choir,  the Sounds of Joy (an instrumental group that plays periodically for ages Jr. High to adult), and other special music for events and worship. Our Altar Guild prepares the sanctuary for worship each Sunday.
Our Youth program, coordinated by our Director for Children, Youth and Family Ministries, Alicia Urban, includes a “Grandbuddy” program, which pairs children with adults in the congregation, spiritual education and 1st communion instruction,  service projects & stewardship for children and youth in the community, within the US and world, participation in synod youth events, ELCA National Youth Gathering and a Summer VBS program. We also have a Confirmation program for youth in 6th-8th grades,  and an active Jr/Sr. High youth group.
Members of Joy are active individually and as a congregation in reaching out to the community around us. As a congregation, we have volunteered at the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, Oaks Indian Mission, Jenks Community Food Bank,  been a sponsor of and participated in the Tulsa area CROP Hunger Walk, and provided Thanksgiving meals with Helping Hands Food Pantry, making warm, family art night, participated in Beer & Theology,  created warm coverings for cancer patients—just to name a few. Joy also hosts other community groups such as Girl Scout Troops, Cheer Squads,  the India Association of Greater Tulsa, and Nar-anon. We reach out through ELCA World Missions and currently have a member that is doing mission work in India.  Other non-profit groups are welcome, space and calendar permitting. For more information call us at 299-3292 or visit the link to "Community Groups" above.

We strive to support care of God's creation at Joy with by educating our community and actively recycling, using LEED guidelines in new building and remodeling, developing landscape plan to take advantage of native plants, and utilizing solar power to heat/cool and power our most recent addition.

We foster a feeling of community at Joy with various educational opportunities such as small group Bible Studies, quilters, The Joy Stitchers , DOT Spot -Dining Out Together (a group that tries out a variety of restaurants around Tulsa), a several dinners & special events hosted by our youth group, church picnics, soup suppers on Wednesdays during Advent and Lent, and other activities as planned throughout the year.
